I am from the United States and I spent 15 days traveling throughout Sri Lanka with my 14-year-old daughter. I must admit I was initially quite nervous about being so far from home with a male driver. Luckily Ran’s warm and pleasant personality immediately put us at ease. Even my husband—thousands of miles away—felt comfortable after speaking with him on the phone. My daughter and I arrived as a stranger to Ran, and we left as friends. Ran is so much more than just a driver. He is a highly knowledgeable, award-winning guide with a deep understanding of Sri Lankan history. He holds university degrees and has even taught classes. His English is fluent. Throughout our entire trip, Ran was incredibly respectful and never pressured us to go anywhere we didn't want to go. I always felt completely safe. His support went above and beyond. He ensured we were always charged fair local prices. When I decided to extend our stay at a hotel, he managed to secure our train tickets on two separate occasions and even ran ahead on the platform to ensure we got seats. He did the same to make sure we had excellent spots for our whale-watching tour. Ran was always punctual, and his van was always kept in clean condition with air conditioning that worked perfectly. Ran takes great pride in his work and himself. He always maintained a neat, clean, and professional appearance. I truly appreciated his attention to detail, which made our long days of travel comfortable and pleasant. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks to Ran, this was truly a dream trip. If you are looking for a trustworthy, professional, and insightful guide (not just a driver!), I cannot recommend Ran highly enough.

We spent 16 amazing days in Sri Lanka with Ran and we definitely recommend it, whether you are with family (we were with our 76 year old parents, brother and friends) or friends. ​To summarize: ​Adaptability & Passion: He knows the history and nature of his country at his fingertips. He adapted the program to all our desires and the needs of each. ​Security & Conduct: Its driving is safe and quiet (very reassuring in the face of bus and tuk-tuk chaos), which allows you to enjoy the scenery to the fullest. ​Local expertise: Excellent advice for restaurants (especially to find non-spiced dishes) and hotels adapted to our budget. ​Full reliability: Despite the fuel shortages, Ran had anticipated and stocked up so that our trip would never be interrupted. It is extremely responsive. ​Financial Confidence: The split payment (one part on arrival, the rest on departure) establishes an immediate relationship of trust. ​Thank you Ran for making this stay perfect!

We’ve just returned from an 8-day trip around Sri Lanka. It was our privat trip and our guide (and driver) was Ranjith Alwis RAN HOLIDAYS SRI LANKA. He suggested the itinerary and selected the most interesting places to visit. He arranged comfortable hotels, ensuring excellent accommodations and delicious Sri Lankan meals. We traveled between attractions in a comfortable, air-conditioned Nissan van. We would like to note that Ran is an excellent driver; he drives very safely, which is particularly important on Sri Lanka’s roads. His car was cleaned every day. Ran was very caring, patient, and empathetic, and he helped us immensely in a critical situation when it turned out that, due to the outbreak of war in the Arabian Peninsula, we were having trouble returning to Poland. Ran told us a great deal about the history, culture, and daily life of the people of Sri Lanka. We had the opportunity to see the most beautiful monuments in Anuradhapura, Ella, and Kandy, but we also visited a tea plantation and learned about the entire production process. Other attractions Ran arranged for us a visit to a Sri Lankan village and the chance to prepare local dishes with the villagers. And, of course, the unforgettable safari in Udawalawe National Park, where we were able to admire families of elephants, crocodiles, eagles, and many other animals up close. We also visited Sigiriya and Lion’s Rock. Thank you, Ran, for the wonderful, professional organization of our trip. Already my brother told us about a great guide/driver with whom he and his wife explored the country in 2018. After he made contact with us, we developed a 10-day tour with Ranjith Alwis. Ranjith picked us up from our hotel in Negombo and as a private guide gave us everywhere the perfect information about the history of the country, about Buddhism and about the special places we saw. He organized all of us hotels on this trip. Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Sigiriya and Dambulla were the beginning of our journey. Kandy and the large botanical garden, the train ride from Ambewela to Ella were other stops. He warned us about the very touristy Ella, but we wanted to see it anyway. On the last day of our trip together, he recommended a safari tour in Udawalawe National Park, one of the highlights of this 10-day trip. Finally, he drove us to Ranna to our beach hotel. I can't think of a better driver than Ranjith after the event, he always drove carefully in the chaotic traffic, the car was very comfortable and had wifi and air conditioning. With his many years of experience and extensive knowledge as a leader, he was perfect and we had a lot of fun together. He speaks perfect English. He has always responded to our wishes and has taken great care that we feel comfortable. We can recommend him without restrictions at any time and would like to plan a new tour with him again to the parts of the country in the north and east of Sri Lanka, which we skipped this time.

We just finished a 15-day trip through Sri Lanka. We decided to rent a vehicle with driver/guide and the truth is that it has been quite a success. It has allowed us to take advantage of every day, have flexibility and make stops where we were most interested. We have visited two national parks, Willpatu in the north and Uda Walaba in the south. Both have been amazing destinations. Pure nature and plenty of wildlife. The cultural triangle, with visits to the Buddhist caves of Dambula, Mihintale and Sigiriya have allowed us to get closer to Buddhist culture and to know ancient sites and with a lot of local people. And the last few days, already destined to rest on the southern beaches. Paradise. In short, a very varied trip, and best of all, enjoying the kindness of the people of Sri Lanka. Our driving guide, Ran, who has a long career working in the sector, has shown unbeatable professionalism. We are very grateful for her driving, always very safe and all the explanations she has given us along the way. It has also allowed us to enjoy your friendly company and know many things about the local culture, religion, food, etc. Besides, he never pushed us to take us to souvenir shops or anything like that. We had to cancel our booking five years ago with Ran because of Covid-19 so were very pleased to find he was available when we contacted him in 2025. His communication before and during our 15 day trip was excellent. His English is very good and he has a sense of humour which is needed in his role I’m sure! His motto is ‘your trip your choice’ and he is very true to that. We stipulated we did not want to be taken shopping and to try and avoid overcrowded destinations - both of which he avoided. We headed north instead of the usual cultural circuit and it was great, eating in little roadside cafes, seeing roti and hoppers being cooked, stopping for king coconuts en route etc. Ran is so knowledgeable about all aspects of Sri Lanka and his 30+ years as a guide and driver are very evident. He’s an excellent and very careful driver, looking after his comfortable vehicle and guests extremely well. He’s not the cheapest but we feel you get what you pay for in this instance. We stayed in some really basic places and a couple of upmarket places which we had booked ourselves and not once did he judge our choices. We would 101% recommend him and would use his services again if ever we return to Sri Lanka. Thank you Ran!
