We were lucky enough to have Sanju as our driver for a fantastic 13 days in Sri Lanka. Sanju ensured that we fell in love with the country and saw all it had to offer. Whilst we had provided Sanju with a list of sights we wanted to see, he ensured we saw all that we had planned and so much more. Every drive to main destinations included suggested stop-offs at temples and viewpoints of interest en route, and at both Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Sanju included the less-visited ruins and monuments which he knew we would be interested in. He arranged and joined us for an excellent safari to Kaudulla National Park — because of the time of year we saw hundreds of elephants and water buffalo as well as stunning birds such as the Indian roller and fish eagles. Sanju also detoured on our way from Ella to Galle to ensure we saw the stunning southern beaches, stopping off where he knew there would be a good chance to see turtles. We cannot thank him enough — he is an excellent driver and took real care of us, even driving to find us on our return from Little Adam's Peak in a torrential downpour. Sanju was also excellent and easy, upbeat company and became a good friend on our travels.
